Did you know that the Perth Hills supply most of the state’s stone fruit? So those stunning fresh peaches at your friend’s dinner party or those delicious Kelsey plums you saw are probably grown right here in the hills.
So where can I get my hands on these goodies?!
Direct from the farm gate! The farm-to-plate concept is alive and kicking in the Perth Hills. Here are three top spots to get your fruit fix directly from the grower:
Fruit Corner Fresh local grown fruit and veggies. Family owned and run since 1953, this is a great place to visit where you can even pick your own veggies. Check out their fantastic Facebook page for what’s fresh, foodie photos and some inspiration for what to cook up with your hand-picked fruit and veggies.

Fruit Loop Set on a stunning orchard in Pickering Brook which is now the home of La Fattoria (food and wine experience), Fruit Loop sells fresh fruit which has often just been picked minutes or hours ago. Featuring some rare and interesting varieties, Fruit Loop sells produce from their orchard and neighbouring properties from their rustic packing shed and new restaurant overlooking the vines and orchard. Core Cider House The home of local cider now runs a weekly farmers market selling fresh fruit and other local produce. You can also try some of their freshly squeezed juices or yummy apple-pie ice cream in the packing shed or head to the main restaurant for a full feast whilst you’re there. And not forgetting Grower Direct where you can find locally grown fruit, veggies and honey all sourced from their own and half a dozen other Hills' orchards and farms. This great little co-operative brings together a huge variety of food and is a great way to see exactly what is grown up here in the hills.

If you prefer to browse a whole range of produce, why not come along to one of Kalamunda’s famous markets:
Kalamunda Farmers Market – your best spot for fresh, local produce. These weekly Sunday markets run from 8am – 12 noon and are a buzz with a whole host of produce (too much to list here unfortunately!) Check out their website for all the produce, stallholder and market information.
Kalamunda Night Markets – once a month the food trucks and stalls roll in and take over Kalamunda town centre. Set under a perfect hills starry sky, this night market is fast becoming one of the most popular in Perth. Experience some local eats and produce as well as browsing through the market stalls. Kalamunda Village Markets – the monthly Saturday markets (first Saturday of every month) feature over 200 stalls and is the largest artisan and craft market in Western Australia. Packed with a huge variety of local and WA-based producers, you can come and ‘meet the maker’, sample what’s on offer and soak up the hills atmosphere.
