How to turn the Easter school holidays from boring to packed full of fun: Top 5 things to do

Don’t suffer at home with rambunctious kids climbing the walls! Just 30 minutes from Perth, the Perth Hills has a great range of Easter holiday activities to keep kids of all ages busy during April.

Kalamunda Show Saturday 7 & Sunday 8th April @ Kostera Oval, Kalamunda

All the fun of the fair on the first weekend of the school holidays! Entertainment, stalls, competitions, rides, log chop competition, animal nursery, dog show, fireworks and competitions. Phew so much to do! Head to the kids corner on the Saturday from 10am – 3pm for carpentry, painting, noodle threading, toys, a magician, sing-alongs, story telling and of course the coveted Decorated Bike Competition.

Camp Cooking for Kids Kids will love this hands-on bush cooking experience on 11 April, which includes a 4km return walk to a typical Bibbulmun Track campsite, where kids learn to make things like damper and pizza and then get to eat their creations.

Bilby & Holiday Fun at Kanyana Wildlife On 15 & 16th April, enjoy an evening with one of WA’s cutest residents – the Bilby. Meet the Kanyana bilbies, investigate the differences between bilbies and bunnies, play bilby bingo, and go on a bilby hunt in the Discovery Centre. You can also visit in the evening for their popular nocturnal tours on 8 April and during the day on 11, 13, 20 & 23 April for school holiday activities and discovery tours.

Ramp it up Tuesday 18 April from 4-8pm @ the Forrestfield Skate Park Free skate, scoot and BMX Clinic – Incredibly popular, this monthly clinic returns on . The clinics feature 3 experts specialised in teaching skaters all the tips, tricks and skills they need to know about Scootering, Skateboarding and riding BMX. The clinics are open to anyone from beginners to experts (aged 10-18 approximately) and no sign up is required - participants can just turn up on the day. Get Arty Farty at Faire & Co Kalamunda’s new creative hub for children – Starting with Easter workshops on 7 & 8th April and then closed for the first week of the school holidays, Faire and Co returns with a horde of workshops to close out the holidays. From Wednesday 19th you can book in for anything from lip balm making, gooey gak, playdoh mayhem, flower crowns to making fairy furniture (depending on availability). If your gang is cray cray for crafts, you could also book in for a private workshop or stop by on Sunday’s when children’s workshops run alongside the popular Farmers Markets (Hint: Shopping by yourself whilst kids are happy happy…!)
