To help you fill the days, we’ve compiled our top ten favourite activities in the Perth Hills over the next two weeks. From hiking to eating award-winning ice cream in the sunshine, the hills are alive with the sound of entertained children and parents sighing in relief!
Walk Trail Wonders
Hit up our website to discover kid-friendly trails that wind though the hills. You may see a friendly bobtail, a natural waterfall or a carpet of our most beautiful wildflowers. Best of all – the kids can use their outside voices! View some of our walk trails
Make a Mess at Masonmill Gardens
Take the mess out of your home and let Masonmill Gardens entertain your 0-12-year old’s. Messy Moments will be creating some messy havoc at Masonmill on Tuesday 25th September and Tuesday 2nd October. Bookings are essential, head to their Facebook event for more details.
Support the work of Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre by booking an after dark tour to see some of Kanyana's most active night time critters up close and personal. Bookings required. Booking and Event Information here
Around the campfire
You won’t hear a single Baby Shark lyric when you join this good ol' fashioned sing-a-long around the campfire. Join a wandering minstrel around the campfire for an activity the whole family can enjoy. Bonus – it includes an up close encounter with native animals!
Camp Cooking & the Bibbulmun Track for Kids
Get the kids out for a day in the bush and teach them some real-life camp style cooking. This holiday activity includes a 4km return walk to a typical Bibbulmun Track campsite, ingredients for cooking and experienced guides. Booking and Event Information here
Junior Wildlife Guardian School Holiday Program
Another worthy cause to support and fun for the kids to boot! Visit the Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre, Kaarakin for up close wildlife encounters and nature-based activities.
The Big Draw
Get the kids into their BIG DRAW pants and head to Hawaiians Forrestfield to be part of the world’s biggest celebration of drawing. These fun Festival workshops are for anyone who loves to draw, as well as those who think they can’t!
Buy an Ice cream at Collodels and stay for the *Spaghetti Sundae
Hills folk have a secret, and it involves Ice-cream, lots of delicious award-winning ice cream from Mary and Oristo at Collodel’s Ice Cream & Sorbet. Take the kids to experience the flavours churned out of their tiny ice-creamery on Haynes Street in Kalamunda.
*Spaghetti Sundae—ice cream squeezed through holes (pasta), topped with raspberry and strawberry sauce (bolognaise) and sprinkled with sugar (parmesan).
Zig Zag Flora, Fauna & History Walking Tour
Join Down Under discoveries for a two-hour Flora, Fauna & History walking tour with a Botanical savvy guide twisting down part of the unused Zig Zag railway offering fantastic views of the Perth City & the Swan Coastal Plain.
Bushwalk & Scavenger Hunt
Take the kids to Jorgensen Park for a free guided bushwalk and scavenger hunt. It’s an excellent way to test their scavenging skills, meet new friends and learn about native wildlife.
