On a sunny 27 degrees day last week, we were invited to a secret photoshoot amongst the budding blossoms at S&R Orchard.
It was here that we caught up with Santino and Pat from the orchard where they filled us in on something special happening in their slice of heaven in the Perth Hills.
Well known for their fruit-picking during summer and their magical September blossom festival, this year they have decided to share something a little different with their audience, and frankly, we think it’s going to be spectacular.
From the 14 to the 30 September the Costanzo family are throwing open their orchard gates and inviting Perth to the inaugural SAKU Blossom Festival.
The festival is a Japanese-themed nod to the celebrated cherry blossom festivals held in Japan every year, and at S&R they're encouraging you to gather your family and friends, pack a picnic and rug and sit beneath the blossoming trees to eat, chat and admire the pink spectacle.
At the photoshoot we attended; we watched gorgeous kimono model Monei, and the talented Izumi from the Perth Kimono Club weave their magic with the new props and blossoms. The Kimono Club will be on site during the weekends to hire their gorgeous, authentic costumes to people keen to get some beautiful blossom shots.
Kimono bookings are essential, contact the Perth Kimono Club for more information.
Along with the wide range of Japanese style food, activities and fun you also find a cheeky pop-up Cider bar nestled within the orchard. Featuring award-winning local cider maker Carmel Cider Co, the pop-up bar is a welcome addition to the biggest blossom festival in the Perth Hills.
The owners have promised a bigger festival this year and have let us know they have two new car parks that will accommodate all their visitors who are coming from far and wide.
